This course focuses on the operational, technical, and regulatory aspects of GNSS - based navigation and how it enhances airspace efficiency, safety, and capacity. Participants will explore PBN concepts, ICAO regulations, and implementation strategies to modernize air navigation systems.
A basic understanding of aviation, air navigation, or related fields is recommended.
A degree or diploma in aeronautics, air traffic management, avionics, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP)
Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP) staff
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) personnel
Airport operations and air traffic controllers (ATC)
Flight operations and airline navigation personnel
Explain the principles and components of GNSS and PBN.
Describe GNSS/PBN signal structures, accuracy, and error sources.
Analyze the role of augmentation systems (SBAS, GBAS, ABAS) in improving GNSS performance.
Understand PBN navigation specifications, including RNAV and RNP requirements.
Interpret ICAO regulations and guidance on PBN implementation.
Describe how GNSS supports en-route, terminal, approach, and landing operations.
